Squire Alden's up and down sawmill was located on Beaver Brook at the northern end of Beaver. Here stood a mill from very early times, the road through Beaver being described in some early deeds as "the road that leads to Alden's Mill." This was located on Winter Street where the road makes a right turn and goes straight toward Brockton. The site is designated by a marked boulder dated 1714.
