These bridges were at the upper end of Captain's Pond. Behind the bushes at the right of the right-hand (eastern) bridge on the edge of the stream was the rock with a hole drilled to show how high the pond could be raised. In the background may be seen the roof of the Alvarez Nash house, once the homestead of Ebenezer Shaw, son of the first Joseph Shaw who bought all this land on both sides of Beaver Brook of Thomas Snell.
