Early, this was the home of Deacon William Keith who owned a large farm. When Elm Street was extended, cutting through the back part of his property, Capt. Parlee Keith, son of the Deacon, gave permission for the road to cross the Keith land if a safe passage was made for his cattle to the far meadow. A tunnel under the road was built which can be seen to this day. The house is at 531 Summer Street
