Perhaps this pond occupies the site of a beaver pond. In the 1870's and 1880's it produced thousands of pond lillies every year. The hill at the left is the 'Pine Hill' of old deeds. Beaver Brook came into the pond just beyond the pine trees at the extreme right. Houses in the distance are the Parlee Keith house (left) and the Galen Willis house. This site can be seen today on a curve on upper Elm Street. The picture was taken on August 31, 1885.
