The Mark Hudson house, 320 Whitman St., and the Horatio Bates house, 616 Bedford St. are in the background. Here Henry Curtis offered Lucius Curtis (in the boat) money to row against the stream. There are those who remember Fred Porter being rowed across here a few decades ago. Behind the men at the left is the Joppa Grille.
