For many years, Walter Benson lived here and carried on a teamster's business- plowing, mowing hay, furniture moving and horses for hire - were a few of the services he offered. He owned many houses in Elmwood, some for two families which were known as tenements, which were for rent. In 1909 it took 2 days and 4 horses to move a family to Providence R.I. The cost was $24.00.
