JUNE 2012

A to Z Social Skills Storytime. June 5, 2012 @ 2 PM Ants on Parade!
An Early Childhood Support Specialist, Carol Carver, from Self Help, Inc. Community Partnerships for Children, will be running this program. The activities for these storytelling times include songs, gross motor movement, art, stories and puppets!
This is a parent-child activity, please plan to attend with your preschooler.

Cuddle Up Story Time, Wednesday, June 6 @ 10 a.m.
For newborns to 24 months only with a caregiver. Come to learn some rhymes and how to read stories to your little one. We'll sing some songs and you'll go home with all that we've done to practice! Please bring a blanket, as we'll be working on the floor!

Friends Summer Reading Book Sale
Join us on either Friday, June 8 from 3-6 or Saturday, June 9 from 9-1. Proceeds help fund Children's Room programs.

Bees & Butterflies Story Time, Wednesday, June 13 @ 10 a.m.
Join us for this perfect summer story time about bees and butterflies. We'll learn some rhymes, sing some songs and complete a simple butterfly craft afterwards. All preschoolers welcome with a caregiver.

Summer Hours begin Friday, June 15
We're open all day on Fridays (9-5) and closed on Saturdays until after Labor Day.

Summer Movie - Wednesday, June 27 @ 2 p.m.
Join us for our first afternoon summer movie. We'll watch a recent IMAX movie on orangutans and elephants. We'll also have orangutan and elephant books on display!

 

MAY 2012

2nd Grade Tours, 1st Two Weeks in May
We welcome our future patrons of the library! Our annual second grade tours kick off at the beginning of the month. Kids come and listen to a story, find out what the library is all about and have a library scavenger hunt. It's great fun and always fantastic to see all of the young faces excited about books and their library!

Eating Clean with Johanna Voss, Monday, April 9 @ 6 p.m.
Do you ever feel as if you are running on empty? Or perhaps you feel a bit sluggish? Have you found yourself wanting to eat a more clean, healthier diet, but you aren't sure how? Put more skip in your step by eating whole, unprocessed foods. Learn what whole foods do for your body and how to integrate them into your diet!

April Vacation Events, April 17-21, 2012
Come in on Tuesday, April 17 @ 4 pm for a Teen Movie. We're showing the recent Footloose movie. This movie rate PG-13 - so all children 12 and under will need to attend with a parent or guardian.
Wednesday, April 18 @ 2:30 - Geronimo & Thea Stilton Book Party. Please register, for children in Gr. 2-5.
Thursday, April 19 @ 10:30 - Big Joe, Storyteller. All ages. Drop in, no registration. Thanks to the Friends of the Library!
Friday, April 20 @ 2 come to watch Scooby-Doo and the Dance of the Vampire. All ages, no registration.

Hanson Children's Museum, April 26: 9:45 - 11 - Public Viewing
Come in to see the Hanson Children's Museum Lexington Green display. Learn a little about American History! For more information about the HCM visit their website.

MARCH 2012

Friends Spring Book Sale
Join us on either Friday, March 16 from 3-6 or Saturday, March 17 from 9-1. Proceeds help fund Children's Room programs.

Spring Storytimes begin the week of March 27, 2012*: Book Buddies (3 years old to K) meet on Tuesdays at 2 PM (except for 4/3 & 5/1 when A to Z Storytime meets); Mother Goose meets on Wednesdays at 10 AM (birth to 3 year olds); and Families & Books meets on Thursdays at 10:30 AM (for all preschoolers).
Story Times will not meet during April vacation week (4/16). *Families and books will begin on April 5.

 

FEBRUARY 2012

Hynosis: Your Tool for Positive Change!, February 6, 2012 @ 6 PM
Join Kyle Horton today. Kyle has been a certified hypnotist through the National Guild of Hypnotists since 2009. This event will serve to educate people on the topic of hypnosis and engage them in an interesting and open way. Topics include: history of hypnosis; truth and benefits of hypnosis; participate in tests using the power of suggestion; find out how hypnosis pertinas to you personally.
Kyle will be available afterwards to discuss further topics and points. Handouts will be available.

Wednesday, Feb. 22 @ 10:30 - Magic with Tommy James. All ages. Drop in, no registration. Thanks to the Friends of the Library!
Thursday, Feb. 23 @ 10:30 - Dog Safety with Tracey & Dundee. Please register and plan to learn about dogs, their cues and learn a trick or two.
Friday, Feb. 24 @ 2 come to watch Puss in Boots. All ages, no registration.
